Hardcoat Anodizing
Hardcoat anodize, commonly referred to as Type III anodizing, is formed by using an electrolytic solution of sulfuric acid at approximately 32° F and a current density of 23 to 37 Amps per square foot. The process will run for 20 to 120 minutes depending on the alloy used and desired coating thickness. This will produce a generally gray coating 10µm to 50µm thick with 50% buildup and 50% penetration.
Properties
Hardcoat anodizing provides for several desirable qualities such as:
Specifications
There are hundreds of governmental, industrial, and commercial anodizing specifications in use, each with their own method of calling out coatings, seals, dyes, etc. Any anodizer should recognize the Type III designation to indicate a hardcoat anodize, Class 1 to specify natural color or no dye, and Class 2 to indicate a dye.
Materials
Hardcoat anodizing works very well with 6000, 5000, and 7000 series alloys. High-copper 2000 series alloys can present some difficulties and should be avoided if possible. As with all forms of anodizing high-silicon die castings are not recommended.
AVT™ Anti VibrationTechnology
Dealing with the vibrations of a 90 size helicopter plays havoc on the whole system. To combat this with regard to our canopy mount designs we use the highest strength 7075-T6 aluminumn and precision CNC manufacturing.
But that was not enough. We had to search for a better design, something that would assure that the thumbscrew would not come loose from the standoff during flight.
That is where AVT ™ or Advanced Vibration Technology comes in.This design uses a proven and highly effective means to eliminate the loosening effect ,in this case on a thumbscrew as it is encounters vibrations during flight.
"This application is a unique and proprietary preload locking thread form that's exceptionally resistant to transverse vibration -- the primary cause of thread loosening. Proven in thousands of applications, these threaded holes eliminate the need for other locking devices ... and substantially reduce the potential for fatigue failure when compared to standard threads"
AVT ™ is initiated when you thread your thumbscrew into the standoff, turning it until it comes to a stop. This is a VERY important step to insure that the AVT ™ is activated on your canopy mount system.
This along with our unique thumsbcrew design gurauntees that you will NEVER lose another thumsbscrew again during flight.
*Please note that all of our canopy mounts are designed for the use with factory supplied canopy grommets.Use of aftermarket or non-factory grommets will severly affect the ability of the thumbscrew to be held in place once it is loosened from the standoff and is not advised when using our products.

- Corrosion Resistance (336+ Hours salt spray resistance per ASTM B117)
- High Durability (file hard, 60-70 on Rockwell C-scale)
- Electrical Insulation (800 V / mil thickness)
